Noë Watson, PhD candidate at the University of Amsterdam, and her colleagues Mark Keegan, Bart van den Bosch, Ning Yan and Gadi Rothenber, authored the scientific article “The Influence of Metal Impurities on NiOOH Electrocatalytic Activity in the Oxygen Evolution Reaction”, recently published on ChemElectroChem!
The study, referencing her research done in the CO2SMOS project, tested how small amounts of metals (like copper, iron, and cobalt) impact nickel-based catalysts used in reactions to generate oxygen. Even minor impurities can change how efficiently these materials work. This research is a reminder that scaling up clean energy tech means not just new ideas but also paying attention to material quality.
The future of energy depends on sustainable materials!
