On 19 June 2024, our colleague Marian Blom presented her research on Terephthalate Copolyesters Based on 2,3-Butanediol and Ethylene Glycol, showcasing the impressive work done by the Avantium team, at the HIMS Symposium!
The event, organized by the Van ‘t Hoff Institute for Molecular Sciences (University of Amsterdam), brought together scientists, support staff, and master’s students to share their latest advancements in chemistry.
Marian’s poster focused on findings from the CO2SMOS project, where Avantium researchers explored the potential of bio-based building blocks for sustainable polyesters. One key component is 2,3-butanediol (2,3-BDO), which enhances the heat resistance of materials. They developed new copolymers similar to the well-known plastic PET but incorporated 2,3-BDO.
