In November and December 2024, our colleague Marian Blom, researcher at Avantium, showcased the CO2SMOS project at two important events: “Brightlands: new sustainable feedstocks” and NWO CHAINS 2024.
On both occasions, our partner was selected to present a poster on the research done on the novel copolymers developed by incorporating 2,3-butanediol (2,3-BDO) alongside ethylene glycol in a structure similar to polyethylene terephthalate (PET).
“Brightlands: new sustainable feedstocks” took place on November 28 at Brightlands Chemelot Campus to highlight the potential of sustainable alternatives to fossil-based feedstocks in the plastics industry, particularly biomass and CO2. The event gathered experts in the field to discuss the latest innovative solutions, their economic and technological potential, and a collaborative path forward. More info is available here.
From 3-4 December, NWO CHAINS 2024, the annual Dutch chemistry conference took place to gather chemists, from PhD students and postdocs to professors and R&D scientists, working in science and industry.
The theme of this edition was ‘Transformation’ referring directly to a chemical reaction, the cornerstone of the work that is done within chemical research and by the chemical community. Discover more here.
